What does the ISO 16321-1:2022 standard address?
This is the new standard for personal protective equipment (PPE), replacing EN 166.
Its content is similar. The validation test consists of firing a 0.86 g, 6 mm diameter ball at a speed of 45 m/s onto the lens. For the product to be approved, the lens must not give way on impact.
The laser marking on the lens and temple complies with the requirements of this standard
Why are the temples flat?
This shape provides optimal comfort for use with a hearing protection helmet, while the short, flat shape of the temple ensures that the helmet's foam remains as watertight as possible and does not create a second point of acoustic entry at the back of the ear.
What are the different lens colours for?
The neutral transparent lens is suitable for indoor use where there is no direct sunlight. This is known as category zero
The yellow lens is a category 1, making the most of light to facilitate vision. It is best used on cloudy days and in dark environments.
The black lens is classified as category 3 solar, reducing light transmission to reduce glare and direct sunlight.
