Pitching and dismantling
There are four poles to insert into their corresponding sleeves. There are colour codes to help you.We recommend that 2 people pitch the tent.Floor surface area with guy ropes:20m2
Sun protection
The flysheet fabric has UPF 30 sun protection.Caution: be careful, as a large amount of UV rays can get in through a simple open door.
Ventilation
The ventilated flysheet on the living area airs the room and reduces condensation inside your tent. High ventilation hatches are also provided at the front and back of the tent, along with high mosquito nets on the door and at the back of the bedroom.
Wind resistance
We test all our tents in a wind tunnel on a turntable. The aim is to expose each side of our tent to the same wind intensity.Properly pitched, with the guy ropes deployed, this tent remains habitable in wind speed 6, measured at 50 km/h.
Waterproofing
We test our tents to validate their waterproofing. The first test is done in the laboratory, 3 hours under 200 litres of water per hour per sqm, equivalent to 200 mm tropical rain per hour. The second test is done in the field under real-life conditions by our teams. This tent is fitted with a polyurethane-coated polyester flysheet measuring 2,000 mm. It also has seams that have been waterproofed with heat-sealed strips, and a 140 g/sqm polyethylene groundsheet.
Repair
As designers and practitioners who love our playground, we care about the durability of our products. That's why all our tents are designed to be repairable. Spare parts and pole repairs are available at the workshop of your Decathlon store or on our website.
Poles and tent pegs
Poles - All our poles are made from fibreglass and undergo double quality checks. This guarantees some of the best resistance against breakage.Tent pegs - All our pegs are made of steel and have a diameter of 6 mm.
Maintenance advice
Our camping tents have been designed for occasional outdoor use (4 weeks per year) when camping or in the great outdoors. Continued exposure to UV rays over several weeks can damage the fabric. These products are not classified as “garden furniture” and aren’t designed to be left outdoors permanently. To guarantee maximum durability of your tent, it's important to store it when not in use.
Product Reviews
I bought this tent for a day camping trip. This exceeded my expectations as it was spacious am, easy to put up once we figured out the instructions and did the job. It was a dry day so can’t comment on the water resistant of it but I would recommend .
Had a 4.2 for about 7 years now, using it for about twenty nights a year, from Cornwall to Thurso. Nothing but brilliant; and at the price, it's an amazing value for money. OK, it's not something you'd want to lug around in a backpack, but that's not the point. Other than that, the luxury of the space beats the slightly longer time it takes to set up; but once you get the knack, it takes about 10-15 mins, and I usually do it on my own without difficulties. Once, a few years back, my daughter and I took it on a road trip along the south coast, and it wasn't much hassle to set it up and take down every day. Basically, if I'm going somewhere with a car, this is my tent of choice out of four I have even if it's only me: I just use one bedroom, the rest being space for a bike, or just gear and cooking etc. And if it's raining, the vast porch it results in is a sheer blessing. Speaking of which... It weathered a 40-knot storm on an exposed Cornish coastal campsite without being anywhere close to getting into trouble (and in good weather, I just don't bother with the guy ropes; it's plenty stable enough without them). Countless downpours without any leaks. Below-zero temperatures. Reliability-wise, again, can't fault it one bit. There's some discoloration on the pole sleeves from years of exposure, but it's still going strong, and there's at least a couple of seasons left in it. When it does finally get close to giving up a ghost, I'll just get another one of those; there's simply nothing on the market anywhere close.
Easy to put up, sturdy and stayed dry despite long heavy rain 👍
