I bought this for my 9 year old daughter, she has never fished before. I set her up within minutes with its easy to use no knots idea. Which ment not loosing any time for me to fish with my kit. I think maybe I could have got her the next size up but she was casting away on her own and loving it. Packing away was just as easy. The reel worked really well. One of my best buys
