Water-repellent component (different to being waterproof)
Water-repellency is a feature obtained by applying a treatment that prevents water from adhering to the surface of the fabric. It \"slides off\" without being absorbed, so the garment remains light, breathable and warm. Please note, this does not mean it is waterproof. This treatment can be repeated to keep all its effectiveness. Use sprays that are applied to the outside, rather than additives used when washing the garment, which can damage the product\'s breathability.
Windproof
Wind protection is very important because of the significant chill effect that wind can have on the body, whether you are active or at rest.According to the \"windchill\" model, which measures how the air temperature feels when factoring in the wind & cold:At a temperature of 5°C combined with winds of 30km/h, the temperature felt will be 0°C. If the air temperature is 0°C & wind speed is 30km/h, the temperature felt will be -6°C. The materials used help to counter the chilling effects of the wind

Please, please, PLEASE make these trousers through your full range of kids sizes. And also maybe in mens and womens sizes too. I'd buy myself a pair if I could. They are so incredibly hard wearing. Absolutely brilliant. My oldest has now outgrown the 5-6. I can't find any softshell trousers in a larger size which are anywhere near as good as these . I need to buy ones with an adjustable waist (he's very slim). I want soft shell as they are hard wearing (these still look like new after climbing trees, scrambling up rocks, riding and falling off a bike, hiking), dry quickly, are warm in a cold wind and protect legs from nettles. I do not want zip off lower legs, as with my son I just know he'll zip them off and loose them. The pocket even has a zip on. They are comfortable. Both my boys have loved these trousers. If you are reading this review as you are considering whether to purchase a pair then go ahead. I am confident you will not be disappointed.
My son loves his trousers- they are perfect in every way and he loves the attachable pocket! Only trouble… only up to aged 6! Argh…. Please please go up to at least 10?! Thanks..
